Through a remotely controlled healthcare robot on Etisalat’s stand during the opening of GITEX Technology Week in Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai conducted a surprise visit to young patient, Alia Saeed Al Ameri, at Amana Healthcare in Al Ain.
In presence of Etisalat’s CEO, Engineer Saleh Al Abdooli, the visit to the patient was conducted using a state-of-the-art telepresence robot. Al Abdooli commented, “Etisalat’s presence at GITEX this year is marked with never-seen-before technological innovations that align with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision to use new and advanced technologies to improve the quality and efficiency of services to the UAE people. The robot is part of our ‘Future Living’ theme and demonstrations at the event, and follows the Smart Government initiatives promulgated by His Highness.”
Development of wearable and mobile healthcare technologies can help alleviate healthcare cost and burden of frequent and inconvenient visits to the clinic, thereby enriching quality of life. On display at GITEX 2014 were Etisalat’s services and solutions that wan provide next generation of smart diagnostic systems fully integrated into the healthcare systems in the UAE. The patient’s father Saeed Mubarak Musalem Al Ameri praised HH Sheikh Hamdan and shared his appreciation for the world-class care and support that his daughter, Alia, has received. Alia was previously treated at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia but returned home two years ago to Amana Healthcare where she receives education and other activities designed to ensure a full and satisfying despite being on 24-hour life support.
